Hi Friends!
Today I will show You few shots from my latest hike to Rampestreken lookout point (537m) and Romsdalstrappa trail.
This is one of the most iconic spot in area of Åndalsnes city and Romsdalen valley. Situated in middle Norway in a very close distance from famous Trollstigen road and Trollveggen mountain wall - the highest vertical rock in Europe.
What is great about the this trail is a big viewing platform from which we can admire all Romsdalen valley together with Åndalsnes below us, fiords and mountains around.
Because it is so popular, we have to be prepared for long waiting time to get on the platform. All the people want to shoot selfie there, make a movie or just spent 2 minutes admiring the landscapes around.
I knew about that so I decided to go on hike late evening, plus, I knew the best light will be around 10pm. I met just a couple of people there so 5 minutes waiting time wasn't so bad.
As You can see the weather conditions weren't great - it was warm, very quiet, but the light was very dark, unfortunately large and dense clouds covered the beautiful sunset light living the valley and the mountains in flat shadow.
After reaching the platform I decided to continue my hike up to the top of the mountain. I never been there yet, so I really didn't know how long hike I will have to make to reach any good view point above the Rampestreken.
After another few hundred steps I reached the nice rocky platform with amazing view around. It was situated around 100 meters above. The Top is called Nesakskla.
Luckily for me the light become nice and soft, lighten up the valley and mountains around, making the whole scene colorful and pleasant.
Picture above is a large panorama made from 11 vertical shots showing the full 180 degree view over the valley.
I spent there around an hour until the cold wind made me feel uncomfortable. I had around 1,5 hour hike down and it was already 11PM, after sunset i begun my journey down to the car.
What is really interesting about the trail are the rocky steps which were build in the steep hills to make the hike more safe and easy. Some of the part are extremely steep and dangerous.
These steps were built by specially hired Nepalese Sherpas who are had big experience in preparing such type of hiking trails.
The last light over the mountains were magical - soft and pastel colors lighten up the whole area.
Magical moment.
Below You can see panoramic shot made with 70mm lens, from 9 vertical frames.
On the picture full mountain range of Romsdal with characteristic top of Romsdalshornet mountain on the left and spiky, tooth like ridge of Trolltinden on the right.
It was very successful hike - with great views, some nice shots made, extremely positive vibes and great amount of excersise.
After I reached my car - my legs, my knees especially, were shaking like a jelly. I am not an experienced mountain hiker, in fact, since many months I was working by the computer having very little exersises... I will have to work on this :).
Hope You liked the views and enjoyed reading.
I highly recommend this location to visit if You will be traveling in Norway one day!
Have a Nice Day!
