The swamps of Louisiana are a mysterious thing, it's not unlikely that one would imagine monsters in those murky waters. While Honey Island may sound like a sweet place to visit, you may want to think twice with this monster lurking around the marshland.
The Honey Island Swamp Monster is a type of bigfoot. Bipedal and over 7 feet tall. He is described as having shaggy grey hair. While his hulking size is intimidating, it is his eyes that typically strike fear in those who encounter the monster. It is said that his eyes are a glowing yellow, with a piercing quality. Those who have spotted the swamp monster, describe him as sinister, and reports of the monster are usually given with reports of nearby animals that have their throats slashed.
While some believe the Honey Island Swamp Monster is nothing but a fiction, and others believe it is part of the Bigfoot family, there is another, more sinister origin story for the monster. That story states that long ago a circus train carrying maltreated chimpanzees derailed near the swamps. When the chimps escaped into the swamps they began breeding with the local alligator population, creating these horrible creatures.
After the death of a retired air-traffic controller named Harlan Ford, 8 mm film taken in the Honey Island Swamp was found among his belongings. Some say what was captured in the film is evidence of this swamp monster.
