This is the second drawing in my new series, where I portray endangered species.
African elephants are the largest land animals on Earth. They are red listed as vulnerable, meaning they're facing a high risk of extinction in the wild (source).

How the drawing was made
The concept sketch
I did a super easy concept sketch to help me decide what colors to use.
Concept sketches are very helpful to do if you're not sure how you want make your drawing or if you have multiple ideas ant can't decide on which you like the most.
The sketch
Once I decided on my concept, I started on the actual sketch. I used a regular mechanical pencil for the for most of the drawing, and lined important parts of the elephants head with a warm gray multiliner.
The coloring
I usually draw during the night, and I only have a small lamp with yellow light, so that's why all these images have a yellow tint.
I used the following markers for the entire drawing:
- W0, W1, W2, W5
- Y0000, Y000, Y11, Y13
- V000, V12, V15, V17
- RV000, RV10
The finished drawing
I added some details and touched up a few areas using colored pencil, and added highlights using white color pencil and white gel pen.
