Who would ever thing that you can make money by translating languages? About ten years ago I was doing my MBA in Hamburg, Germany and looking for a way to make money with my laptop. I first checked out a few survey websites and other things, like where you answer questions and then get paid for your opinion. I also checked out this site Ciao, not even sure if it still exists. You get paid for reviewing products or stores. Heck, I even considered mystery shopping....weird.
Anyway, somehow I got to this website where you register and then you take a test or two and then translate for money. It didn't make sense to me at first, because how do they know you are not just using Google Translate or something? But they actually have really advanced quality assurance and quality management processes. This I only found out later. But in the meantime I started making money by translating short texts from German to English. The weird thing is I couldn't really even speak German fluently yet at that point. But my clients liked my work so they paid my (with paypal).
I kept doing it part time after that while I got some well-paying management jobs back in South Africa. About four years ago I went full time, and am still enjoying the benefits in terms of time flexibility, and earning foreign currency like dollars, euros, and pounds.
Have a wonderful day!!!
