Headed over to EtherDelta this morning to check on a trade I made last night, only to find that the site is totally non-functional. Although the interface is there, you cannot see any information. Thankfully I was just doing some tests and only have about $30 worth of cryptocurrency on that exchange.
Cryptocurrency exchanges and cloud mining businesses are known for their general sketchiness. I used to trade on Cryptsy several years ago before they went down. I was a part of ZenMiner and LTCGear, which both proved to be very bad places to put my money because one of them was proven to be a scam while the other one was either a scam or was hacked. I was a bit younger and dumber than I am now. I'm not about to throw thousands into cryptocurrency again any time soon, though I may speculate a small bit on certain cryptocurrencies.
This goes to show that the small exchanges, despite having more options on which coins to trade, are bad places to move a lot of money around with.
