I finally found some time to sit down and create a new mini torso dress!
I like to crazy at times and create bold and huge ones but this time I wanted to make a simple one.
I think it turned out rather nice in a calm way, classy maybe? At least this one is not over the top and that is something new for me!
A long long time ago I got this wooden torso from my mother and I totally forgot that I had it. While I went online to buy some new ones because I thought I had no more..... Turns out sometimes it's a good thing to look what you have standing in your window! Alas, the new ones will come soon with the mail and I will still kiss the mailman no matter what! He always makes me so happy! back to the project!
This torso is made of wood so I could not create a dress like I am used to by pinning things to the torso with special pins. I had to use needle and thread! And as we all know by now, I am a rather clumsy person! Of course when I started to sew the grey skirt I stuck the needle more into my fingers then the fabric! Yes, I have heard about those little finger hats you can use and NO, I am way too stubborn to use them! I made two skirts because one made it not big enough! I used one bandage for one finger!
When I added the second skirt I was starting to feel happy! A few more kisses to my sad and broken to pieces, bleeding like a piggy finger made it even more better! I added the belt! I always use these like a trademark I guess. Most of the time they are ready to use and you can buy them really cheap! To be honest, I just love them because they sparkle! Anything that sparkles needs to be mine!
And again normally I stick those items like a belt with a special pin into the torso but this time I sewed it...... That is the moment where I stuck the needle a few time through my need looking band-aid! Needles ( pun intended) to say my poor band-aid was not happy with me! I wanted to add some more to the belt to really made it stand out so I went on the search for something classy yet sparkle and found the perfect button! No idea were I got that one but I found it in my button pot! You all need to have a button pot because they make you happy!
One might think I sewed the button on this BUT.... I heated up my glue gun because my finger and my band-aid refused to be pricked again. I swear, they were yelling at me! So..... While waiting on my glue to get hot I had a nice chat with finger and band-aid to easy their troubled mind! Glue got hot so I picked up the nice looking button and ..... Glued my thumb to the button! Well done, well done! That burns........ After a session of nice curse words I managed to get the button off my thumb and on to the dress.
I painted the torso white because I kinda did not like the print even though it was not bad. I used some Gesso paint for that and blow dried it. I added some more sparkles because I just like it better that way but I kept the whole dress kinda calm. And I have to be honest I am really happy with the outcome!
The dress is now standing together with two other dresses and they told me they are very happy!
Disclaimer: No torso were hurt during this progress. My fingers however are still no happy campers!
