Happy Friday!! I wanted to share a few photos (taken by Alloy images) with you all from my first pole competition ever this past August. I competed at the Southwest Pole Championships which is run by Pole Sport Organization. Pole Sport Organization is really unique and neat because it is an open competition, and all levels and styles of pole athletes can compete. After gathering up some courage, I finally decided that I would like to compete after 1.5 years of pole fitness classes at my home studio Altitude Pole Fitness & Aerial Arts.
I competed in the level 3 championship division and was so honored to win 3rd place! It was quite the experience, and I even made my own costume. I hand sewed lace and added sparkle (my first time for bedazzling!) to a basic dance costume piece. Not only did I really enjoy my time on stage, but I had a fabulous time at the competition watching routines from other great pole competitors.
I trained over multiple months to prepare this routine for competition. I want to shout out to my inspirational friend and champion pole ninja 🏆, (who is new to Steemit and will be starting her blog soon - be sure to follow her for some SERIOUS AMAZINGness!) for all the training and support on this routine.
So a bit more about me - I do not have a background in dance aside from a few months of awkward dance class with my sister in middle school. Dance definitely does not come naturally to me! This competition was important to me because I was able to prove to myself that I could do it with a bit of willpower and a lot of dedication. To complete 3.5 minutes of continuous pole combos and movement itself was pretty challenging due to the amount of stamina and endurance it required, but so rewarding!
I truly appreciate your upvotes if you enjoyed this post! I will try to post a few clips at some point from the performance once I figure out how to do it 😂 -please follow if are interested in seeing them!
Hope you have an amazing day and SPARKLE on Steemians!!
❤️,
JESS
