I'm gonna describe here today what's the worldwide ranking of sycophancy in 2023. Showing charts, graphics, statistics and links to videos which include all the countries in the world and how they compare with each other in the book of sycophancy records over the years. It's indeed a deep treatise of this ancestral human trait flaw.
Interestingly, the concept of sycophantocracy has existed as long as humans have lived in social co-existence. But now in an era of resurgent raw narcissism, it becomes more notable and identifiable in online "social networks" governments and administration contexts. Yeah, life in general is sycophantic. The lower your social ranking the emotions you have may not make you aware you're sycophantic. But as you become older and more stable, it's no guess you actually will be aware of the futility of sycophancy.
¡Enjoy the story!
Alright, I really hope you have consumed the entire story from start to finish enjoying it. Hey! Look, that this story even has a smart bot that reads it to you in a nice voice from cover to cover without you having to read a single word if you're lazy. So, you just have to stay looking at the illustrations while the bot flip the pages and tells you the whole story, eh?
Because next, we are going to move right away on to the section of the charts, graphics, statistics and links to videos which include many countries in the world and how they compare with each other in the index of sycophancy records of this year 2023. Pay attention please!
"Thematic Maps"
¡The Ten Largest Countries!
...and its main statistics!
Yeh Yeh Yeh. Ok, ok... you may have noticed some slight inconsistency and mismatches with the graphics, links, statistics and the main theme of this post. ¿Huh? But hey, I only did it to verify that you are really paying close attention to what I am highlighting in this post. So, don't get distracted and keep paying full attention to what comes now.
Because now we are going to seriously review and analyze a random case study regarding the harmful and undesirable effects that sycophancy causes and has caused on many social platforms and "social networks" of professional interaction to which Hive supposedly aspires.
¿Dissent equates to Disloyalty?
Those who become leaders of communities are ultimately mere conformists on most crucial issues. And individuals who evaluate information in a more rational manner and therefore question and defy the rules & decisions and frequently criticize the traditional premises, usually are weeded out early in their careers.
Because maintaining the status quo is more about power and privileges than effective, fair and efficient governance. Those individuals who dare to defy their transient leaders by criticizing their adverse perspectives and overlooking legislation, too often face being ostracized and undercut within every consensus social process.
Unfortunately, sycophantic behavior begins early in the educational system. Criticism is usually unwanted by institutions. The perks, benefits and privileges of power are too important to tolerate criticism. Especially anything that diminishes budgets and power. People who criticize are often disparaged. And way too often they are labeled as complainers or whiners. Intolerance of the views of others, including critics of the status quo, is a sure indicator that sycophancy is alive in the place, running rampantly well and possibly pervasive.
¿Is there a link between sycophantic behavior and dishonesty?
Of course there's a link. In trying to please or gratify someone, a sycophant may often be untruthful and deceitful. Too often criticism is not tolerated because those in charge do not want change or it appears their authority is being undermined. So breeding sycophancy among subordinates and co-workers is always the way to go. Change is often anathema to those in power and those who are subservient and unquestioning are the most desired and hired by bureaucrats.
The condition that creates the “culture of sycophant’s” describes a situation with qualities such as these:
A hierarchical society. There are the people in power and the people not in power. This situation of course, sets the stage for “sucking up”.
A society of lacking. Many are seeking what there is little of. So this can create a “rat race” environment with a bunch of people scrambling for what there is little of. This condition makes the need to “suck up” even more prevalent.
The idea that there is a “someone”, a person or organization to give what is needed or lacking. This would be something like a King or a profession for example. In many ways, the “culture of sycophant’s” is based on the idea that there is a “someone” that will give what is needed. That is to say, a person does not gain it by individual action or merits.
As a result, a person “sucks up” to that “someone” by doing what it requires, always trying to impress by seeking approval, recognition, perks, loyalty praise, mere pats on their backs, etc.
A healthy and prosperous society (company, institution, organization, community, political party etc) certainly needs people of courage and individuality that are willing to offer an alternative and different view from the consensus. Even if that jeopardises their own career. From a personal and mental health point of view, it needs a great dose of self-knowledge, self-confidence and constant self-examination to achieve authenticity.
I believe everyone should ask themselves all the time: ¿Is what I am doing or saying just to please the boss and advance my career? Is this the right thing to do? Or am I just obeying orders to survive?
And yeah, I'm well aware that all the charts, graphics, statistics, links and videos that I have presented throughout this article do not represent with the maximum precision the indices of sycophancy in the entire world. But only in the ten largest, the ten most populated and the ten most important where this bad habit can develop and thrive in years to come.
Because to my disgrace, I know very well about other countries with a smaller geographical territory, lesser demographics and demonyms with a smaller population that even when these does not appear in any of the graphs, statistics and videos presented here, I've actually seen they have and possess a high level of Sycophantocracy inclinations and tendencies. At least through their notorious conduct in certain "social networks" and community ecosystems on the blockchain like Hive.
"Hivemind"
Yeah, in my opinion and just as in the ancient fairy-tale of the King’s New Clothes. I reckon that modern society actually is in a desperate and urgent need of that ‘little-boy-in-the-crowd’ to shout out loud more often: Hey!... “¡The King is naked!”
