Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.
We are back in Hirschfelden and helping our friend Bhandari with doing research on European Bison. Mr Bhadari is trying to reintroduce European Bisons in the reserve and keeping track of their movements, eating habits and other things which will help him in this huge task.
For this we got a new mission and this time it was a simple one, we just had to go to this place called Ernsdorf, located on the western side of the reserve, and take pictures of three different Bisons.
I was still very far from that location and there was no unlocked outpost to take me there so I had to walk. It was a beautiful morning and the ambient music walking through the dense forest is just perfect for the ears.
It was still more than 1 km to Ernsdorf and I heard Roe deer calls but decided to keep going. That was a long walk and once I entered this huge area I looked around for clues to find Bisons. I didn't see any signs so far. I glanced over the map and there were two water bodies in this area and being large mammals they should be close to that water body, especially in the afternoon.
So, I decided to go to the nearest lake. On my way, I stumbled upon a new outpost. I love to unlock new outposts, they save a lot of time and now I can fast travel here and use the store and bed to rest.
I bought some bullets for my rifle here. After walking for a few yards I noticed some Roe deer tracks on the group and they were going in the same direction so this time I decided to follow them. It was not long before I saw the deer. They are one of the smallest deer species in the world.
It got alerted and by the time I switched to my rifle it was already running so I took a shot and fortunately it got hit. Even though I didn't get any vital organs it dropped dead within a few hundred metres. If that was a Bison it would have gotten away.
After a couple of minutes, I reached the lake that I mentioned earlier and I was right. There was a large group of Bisons quenching their thirst.
I clicked a few pictures and the mission got completed. It was just to located them and see how well they are doing. After this, I got the next mission from Bhandari. I had to harvest a bison weighing over 700 kg. I thought it was a tough one but one of the males had the weight in this range.
I shot it first and took out two more from the same herd. They all paniced and fled from the area never to be returned again (or until the hunting pressure here gets low again).
I bagged a gold one weighing over 700 Kg and this marked the end of this next side mission as well. Completing two missions at the same spot feels nice. The next big male I got was around 620 Kg so I guess, I got lucky here. Only one of them from at least 15 was big enough for this mission and was the only gold from the herd.
Later I followed the herd and harvest two more both of them were silver rated as well.
I also spotted a herd of Red deers while I was chasing after this Bison herd and decided to hunt those instead. After following the group for some time, one of the females was left behind so I took her out.
It was a small female and was just a level 1 so I got no trophies and hence no medal out of this. Still tracking patiently was fun.
I never realised but I was now at the second lake which was in the area. I spotted some Roe deer on the other side of the lake and they were relatively easy to hunt despite their small size and good speed.
I will meet you again on some other hunting adventure, perhaps in the Vurhonga Savana map next time.
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...
