It's been almost a week since I left home to come participate in my country's national service. And throughout the period of that one week, I've met a couple of people, with the majority of them being guys.
And the reason for this is because, as a guy, it is a lot easier for you to make friends with other guys compared to ladies.
Well, I've had a couple of guys that I talk to, so it hasn't entirely been a lonely week for me, but today, I made a new friend. And I guess I could say this is the first female friend I'm meeting here. Although to be honest, we barely know each other that long for me to call her a friend, but I'm doing so anyway.
Anyway, the reason I've decided to even talk about this in the first place is due to the unique and new way this friendship started for me. It all started yesterday when I came online and saw a voice note that had been left by a lady.
In the voice note, she had expressed how lonely she has been in this camp and how she would love for anyone to become friends with her. Something about the way she said it made me feel a kind of way, like I had to be the hero in this case, and that was what I did, and from the looks of things, it seems that wasn't a bad idea.
We got talking, and it turned out she has a good sense of humor, and not only online too, because we met physically today, and strangely it didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time. It felt like we've been friends for a long time due to how quickly we connected.
I then proceeded to give her some tips on what helped me to mingle with people back in the day when I too felt like I had no friends and didn't know how to go about making friends. Unfortunately, our conversation was cut short due to the fact that we had to participate in some activities in the camp, and that was the last time I saw her today.
It always feels good meeting someone new for the first time, and I plan on meeting a lot of new people over here.
