La víspera de navidad se pinta de colores y luces, este año vuelven a ser tendencia las decoraciones rojo intenso y rojo vino, mientras que lo dorado y plateado pasa a un segundo plano. Honestamente, eso es lo que dicen los medios pero para mí el arbolito sin dorado no es arbolito. Al fin y al cabo, los medios solo muestran la tendencia en el mundo, pero no la tendencia en casa, es por ello que desde el 19 empezamos preparando y ubicando todo y a partir del día veinte ubicamos las luces en el portal y le añadimos al arbolito las icónicas esferas rojas y doradas.

Uno de mis adornos favoritos es la guirnalda que le da la bienvenida a cada visitante en casa, señal de calidez y unión familiar. Una guirnalda que es un suspiro de esperanza y cultura navideña. En mi edificio este año se han vuelto más creativos con las preparaciones y desde ya están haciendo los muñecos para quemarlos el 31. Y es que en Cuba hay una tradición en donde se queman muñecos hechos de trapo para despedir todo lo pasado y recibir el año nuevo livianos, dando por cerrado un ciclo de 365 días. Otra de nuestras tradiciones más curiosas es la de dar la vuelta a la manzana con una maleta para incentivar los viajes, y en el caso del buen cubano incentivar los viajes a escala internacional. Otra tradición bien arraigada a nuestro pueblo es la de tirar cubos de agua a las doce de la noche, para así alejar todo lo maligno en el año venidero y atraer la buena suerte.

El conjunto de estas y muchas más tradiciones en mí país crea el estado y positividad adecuada para empezar el año como lo que es, una oportunidad. Y es que todas ellas construyen en todos patrones que nos convencen de lo beneficioso que es empezar una nueva vida en un nuevo año. Aquí se ven las implicaciones que traen estas tradiciones en el autoconvencimiento de que lo mejor está por llegar, posibilitando así la normalización de tomar riesgos para vivir la vida deseada. Esto representa mucho para nosotros dado que nuestra historia esta arraigada a la perseverancia y fiereza de los tiempos que corren, representando así un suspiro que brinda vida y alegría.

Son fechas que se visten de gala y, que independientemente de las posibilidades de cada quien, se viven con alegría por el simple hecho de celebrar la vida como ese regalo que es. Las familias y amigos se reúnen, comparten, bailan, ríen, meditan sobre las pruebas afrontadas durante el año y agradecen la bendición de vivir otro. Es el tiempo ideal para velar por la que realmente importa: la familia, la salud y el factor humano entre nosotros.

Etapa perfecta para reflexionar y elevar nuestros niveles de creatividad, organizar nuevos proyectos y estudiar el sinfín de opciones y propuestas a aceptar en este nuevo año. Christmas Eve is painted with colors and lights. This year, deep red and wine red decorations are back in style, while gold and silver take a back seat. Honestly, that's what the media says, but for me, a tree without gold isn't a tree. After all, the media only shows the trend in the world, not the trend at home, which is why we start preparing and putting everything in place on the 19th, and on the 20th we put the lights on the porch and add the iconic red and gold baubles to the tree.

One of my favorite decorations is the garland that welcomes every visitor to our home, a sign of warmth and family unity. A garland that is a breath of hope and Christmas culture. In my building this year, they have become more creative with the preparations and are already making the dolls to burn on the 31st. In Cuba, there is a tradition of burning rag dolls to say goodbye to the past and welcome the new year with a clean slate, closing a 365-day cycle. Another of our most curious traditions is to walk around the block with a suitcase to encourage travel, and in the case of the good Cuban, to encourage international travel. Another tradition deeply rooted in our people is to throw buckets of water at midnight to ward off all evil in the coming year and attract good luck.

All of these traditions and many more in my country create the right mindset and positivity to start the year as what it is: an opportunity. They all reinforce patterns that convince us of how beneficial it is to start a new life in a new year. Here we see the implications of these traditions in convincing ourselves that the best is yet to come, thus enabling the normalization of taking risks to live the life we desire. This means a lot to us, given that our history is rooted in perseverance and fierceness in the face of the times, representing a breath of fresh air that brings life and joy.

These are dates that are dressed up and, regardless of each person's possibilities, are lived with joy for the simple fact of celebrating life as the gift that it is. Families and friends gather, share, dance, laugh, reflect on the trials faced during the year, and give thanks for the blessing of living another one. It is the ideal time to focus on what really matters: family, health, and the human factor among us.

This is the perfect time to reflect and boost our creativity, organize new projects, and consider the endless options and proposals to embrace in this new year.
