Trust you're all in good health this morning. I woke up very happy today. I got to my phone and logged into my Whatsapp only to see an annoying update as the first message I tapped on.
Recall, Niger delta University popularly known as N.D.U increased student's tuition fee which both the vice chancellor and the Government denied being the reason behind the increment. Mr Raphael the student union president conducted a peaceful protest for the reduction of our tuition fees to enable our parents to afford the payment. Well the protest led into all suspension of academic activities by the school management which also led to a strike of about 35 days now.
After series of meetings held with both the government and the school management all was to no avail because the government and school authority still held their ground saying they both didn't increase the tuition fees. Raphael was almost bitten to death by some unidentified gang because he refused to accept the bribe of about 8million to stop the protest. God came to his rescue because the students had him in their prayers daily. The students Union was also suspended from the school and Raphael and some other comrades were asked to visit a disciplinary meeting with the senate of the school before the school went on indefinite suspension.
Its so annoying and painful because despite all the protest and efforts of the Student Union president Mr Raphael, there was still no positive result or even reduction of the fees rather we've stayed at home for weeks and there's being a delay in our academic activities. And also after all the money spent by Raphael and his other colleagues in the election of Student Union, the Union has been suspended. It is not easy someone to Support the Students and decline every request of bribe by the government.
The dreams of the founder of Niger Delta University of Late DSP Alamieseigha has been tarnished because he built N.D.U in his community to enable the children of the poor farmers, traders and civil servants to be able to afford a University Education for their Kids but now all his dreams can never be met anymore. N.D.U was bone of the beat schools in the whole of Nigeria but now it won't even vet to top 10 beat schools in Nigeria.
I heard we're resuming today 18-06-2018 and that our fees are still not reduced. And they're even saying no student will be allowed to enter into the school peemises without their school fees receiept. How can the school authority and Government say thwy didnt increase the school fees when about #15,000 was added to my school fees and i have just my mum catering for both me and my siblings. It's very much unfair that the interest of the people are no longer in the hearts of the leaders after they've been elected into their political positions. How can our parents afford so much for tuition fees when they are not even paid salaries regularly/monthly? Why won't they be increase of thievery by students? Why have our government abandoned the educational sector of Bayelsa state? Do they have a heart? I know their kids study abroad and that is why they don't care about the ones who study here in Nigeria.

Please bring back our education standard to where it was.
