Yesterday while I was walking around, I was thinking about something. Basically, recently one advertisement caught my eyes, basically an online shopping application which became very popular among Ukrainians. They started their journey in 2006 and they have gained much popularity in a couple of months. I saw their ads on youtube and many other platforms and I should admit they have done a very good job in terms of marketing. They are doing nice business during pandemic situations where other businesses are already shut down.
I rarely pay attention when it comes to online shopping companies except for Amazon. I know sometimes due to some situations or unavailability, I have to check online stores but other than that I was never interested.
Upto 70% discount...
Recently the company has opened an outlet which is actually a pickup store in my neighborhood that's why they grabbed my attention. Who doesn't love to check a 70% discount on high-end products right? I did some research and started checking their website and I think they have done a pretty good job. People like me always wait for huge discounts otherwise it's impossible to look at high-end products like Nike, Adidas, Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.
All high-end brand outlets are available in Kyiv mostly and in Kharkiv, we have few branded outlets like Zara, Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. Honestly speaking, I sometimes walk around those shops and never go inside. I like to see high-end brand's products but I never buy them.
I don't know whether anyone here is familiar with BROCARD or not but all high-end products, cosmetics are available here. I used to think about whether they r selling replica or not when I first came here but later I understood that all products are original. The interior of the shop is nice, well lighting system, and organized. Each brand zone is different from the others and attractive too.
Most product price range was above my pocket so I just only saw what exactly they were selling.
Now, let's talk about the price point. Suppose, a perfume costs 30$ in the outlet and the same price on the online shop/website too. Some retail shops are owned by the brand but sometimes 3rd party includes just like online shopping websites. Now, I saw the same 30$ perfume is on 20% or 15% sale in the local website where the price of the retail shop is still 30$. Obviously, the website will keep profit after the sale so how much money actually the retail shop is making.
I feel this complete process is manipulation or market monopoly or don't know what is actually happening. If online websites are keeping less profit or selling at buying price thinking about less profit than how this game is actually working...Or is it some kind of strategy?
Can you please explain to me?
