Ten weekend miał być spokojny.
Ja rozłożony przez infekcję, zatoki kompletnie zawalone, nos nie działa, do tego dziwne osłabienie mięśni i ogólne rozbicie. Szczerze? Najchętniej przeleżałbym cały weekend pod kocem i próbował po prostu dojść do siebie.
Los miał jednak trochę inne plany 😅

This weekend was supposed to be quiet.
I was already knocked down by an infection — blocked sinuses, nose completely useless, strange muscle weakness and that overall feeling of being completely drained. Honestly, I could have spent the entire weekend under a blanket just trying to recover.
But life apparently had different plans 😅

Wszystko zaczęło się od kota, który gdzieś podczas swoich okolicznych wędrówek przebił sobie łapę. Żona zawiozła go do weterynarza, rana została oczyszczona, dostał lekką narkozę i wydawało się, że wszystko wraca do normy.
W sobotę rano pojechali jeszcze na kontrolę i kolejną porcję antybiotyków przeciw zakażeniu. Po powrocie zaczęło się robić naprawdę niepokojąco. Kot zaczął chwiać się na nogach, miał otwarty pyszczek i bardzo szybki, płytki oddech.
Wtedy było już jasne, że sytuacja robi się poważna.

Everything started with our cat, who somehow injured his paw during one of his local adventures. My wife took him to the vet, the wound was cleaned, he received light anesthesia and at first everything seemed fine again.
On Saturday morning they went back for a follow-up visit and another dose of antibiotics. But after returning home, things suddenly became really worrying. The cat started losing balance, breathing with his mouth open and taking very rapid, shallow breaths.
At that moment it became obvious that this was turning serious.

Telefon do weterynarza — niestety usłyszeliśmy, że trzeba rozszerzyć diagnostykę i jechać do kliniki weterynaryjnej w Jaworzu.
Więc szybka decyzja, samochód, ekspresówka i jedziemy ratować kota.
W klinice wykonano pełną diagnostykę i okazało się, że pojawił się obrzęk płuc. Najprawdopodobniej organizm źle zareagował na narkozę albo któryś z podanych leków. Kot został w klinice, a my wróciliśmy do domu czekać na telefon.
O 23 dostaliśmy wiadomość: „stan ciężki, ale stabilny — jeśli przeżyje noc, są szanse że z tego wyjdzie.”
To była naprawdę długa noc.

We called the local vet, but unfortunately heard that further diagnostics were needed and we should head to the veterinary clinic in Jaworze.
So there was no time to think — car, expressway and full focus on saving the cat.
At the clinic they performed a full examination and discovered pulmonary edema. Most likely his body reacted badly either to the anesthesia or one of the medications. The cat stayed at the clinic while we returned home waiting for updates.
At 11 PM we got the call: “His condition is serious but stable — if he survives the night, there’s a good chance.”
That was a very long night.

W niedzielę rano znowu klinika. Kot dostał dalsze leczenie — leki zmniejszające obrzęk płuc, namiot tlenowy i pełną kontrolę parametrów.
Późnym popołudniem zadzwonił telefon: można odebrać kota. Obrzęk płuc został praktycznie opanowany, oddech wrócił blisko normy, a stan się ustabilizował.
Dopiero wtedy wyszło też, że problem prawdopodobnie ma głębsze podłoże kardiologiczne związane z wiekiem. Osłabione serce w połączeniu z narkozą mogło uruchomić cały ten chaos.
Staruszek wrócił do domu, od razu rzucił się na miskę z jedzeniem, więc apetyt wrócił 😅
Teraz czeka go wizyta u kociego kardiologa i… definitywny zakaz samotnych wypraw po okolicy.

Sunday morning meant another trip to the clinic. The cat received further treatment — medication to reduce the pulmonary edema, oxygen therapy and constant monitoring.
Late in the afternoon we finally got the call: we could bring him home. The pulmonary edema had been reduced almost completely, breathing returned close to normal and his condition stabilized.
Only then did it become clear that the real issue was probably an underlying heart condition related to age. A weakened heart combined with anesthesia may have triggered the entire situation.
The old guy finally came home, immediately attacked his food bowl, so thankfully his appetite returned 😅
Now he’ll need further cardiology consultations and… a permanent ban on solo neighborhood adventures.

Tak więc weekend pełen „atrakcji” zdecydowanie się udał 😅
Ja zawalony zatokami, kot walczący z obrzękiem płuc i kilkaset kilometrów między domem a kliniką weterynaryjną.
Najważniejsze jednak, że wszyscy wróciliśmy do domu.

So yes… this weekend was definitely full of “attractions” 😅
Me struggling with sinus infection, the cat fighting pulmonary edema and hundreds of kilometers between home and the veterinary clinic.
But the most important thing is that everyone made it back home.
