Meet Gabe Cortese. The heart of my work is a passage from unsatisfied yesterday and the echoing discord of today. Vulnerability and guilt persecute my identity and serves as a duality that is central to each piece. Simultaneously being overwhelmed and enthralled within an Arcadia, the figures struggle to see past their glaring guilt. The disintegration of potential and the ability to maintain oblivious to a world that is manufactured for success, are reoccurring themes circling through my work. With a landscape as fresh as the men occupying it, the two become one and both affect each other. Through these works, I hope to create ambiguity of narrative and a psychological paradise paired with hidden symbolism integral to the understanding of each painting.
