What if things aren't always what they seem?...
One day, I was strolling along the historic streets of Silves in Portugal. Something pulled me to a random wall in the corner of a cobblestone street when I read the message: "Still love you. Call me". I didn't know anyone in Silves, so it couldn't have been meant for me. But would the person on the receiving end get that it was meant for him/her?
Valentine is a busy man, spreading love, connecting potential lovers. He was a little overworked and thought it was a good idea to update his own system. In internet times, he shouldn't have to keep floating around half naked shooting arrows at people anymore, right? "There must be a more efficient way!", he told himself.
After watching too many vlogs and cat photos, he got it! Broadcasting! And why not? Why send your message aimed at 1 person, hoping they take the bait when you can send it to everyone that is listening? [Nerd reference much?]
And so he started an experiment, and that is what you see on this wall. And it worked! For a split second, he got me. Even I thought if it could have been for me. And that while I knew nobody in this whole country! I wasn't the only one that wanted to hear this message from an old lover. Everyone passing Valentine's message started thinking. "Does (s)he?" Over time this location turned into one of the most called from spots in Silves. With a quick scribble on a random wall, he made tons of people reconnect with their old lovers. And from that moment, lazy Valentine turned to graffiti...
Please don't ask me to prove this, it is pure fiction... I just refuse to believe it was a creepy stalker that tagged the wall in front of his ex-girlfriend's home, while she moved on 5 years ago. Call me hopelessly romantic...
To be honest... I really don't like Valentine's day. If you love someone, you don't need a special (commercial) day to tell them that. Please help me beat the romantic cliches and upvote my comment so that I can win this contest. Any upvote counts, so $0.00000000001 will do too :)
