What does it looks like the ancient armor and weapon of the Filipinos?
The Philippines has a lot of history before the invaders came. The ancient trading to other countries like China. Since the years pass other countries saw that our land has lots of goods and spices that caught the attention of other countries.
The first battle in Mactan
The very first incident of battle that happens is in Mactan, Cebu Philippines. This picture below is the King/Ruler at that time. It happen way back April 27, 1521.

The reason why it happens.

He is Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer who organized the Spanish Expedition (about the real shape of the earth and to look for the Maluku Island the spice island). He is the first European to reach the Island of Mactan while during his quest on his expedition and meet this rajah named Humabon. They became ally and Magellan introduce the Christianity/Catholicism in this island. He brought a gift of Sto.Niño de Cebu image.
But they were not close to Lapu-lapu and Humabon suggested to Magellan that they go to the nearby island of Mactan to killed Lapu-lapu.
As the battle begins, Magellan killed by Lapu-Lapu that day. Out of five ships with 300 men with full of weapon and wealth, only one ship survive this battle and came back to Spain

On this corner these are the swords (kampilan) and shield (kalasag)
On making swords there some rituals or superstitous beliefs that they consider. The shields are most likely made out of light, fibrous wood and ratan binding about 0.5 x 1.5 meters in size. However they have some helmets but apparently i haven't took some photos from the museum. Maybe next time.
I enjoy this part of the museum. I have a chance to see all of this ancient weapons with my own eye. The designs are very unique and crazy, like in the movies. Going back to the past makes my curiosity more active and in that way i am able to share to you my colorful and historic adventure in Manila.
