Balai Besar Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) Region III Denpasar predicts high waves will still occur until some time to come. Coastal residents, especially those in the southern region of Bali are encouraged to be more vigilant and reduce activity on the coast and sea.
"The wave conditions in the southern areas of Bali can reach 5 meters before then broke up to the coast," said Decky Irmawan Head of Service Sub-Department of MKG Region III Denpasar to detikcom, Thursday (26/7/2018).
It is estimated that the wave conditions are high approximately 5-6 days ahead. With a wave height can still reach between 4-5 meters.
This is because the southern waters of Bali are close to the Indian Ocean, where it is currently the cause of high waves due to the propagation of waves from southern Australia. This wave propagation is caused by high or high pressure mascarene that occurs in the Indian Ocean.
"It is this condition that causes the spreading of distant waves that can reach thousands of kilometers." The southern part of Indonesia from Java Island, Bali to Nusa Tenggara also has an impact, "he explained.
