🦉 The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava)
- Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
- flava flavus (lat.) yellow, gold, golden yellow

These graceful, vibrant birds are like a bright sun in the springtime amidst a monotonous landscape. I'm always delighted to see them in early May in the meadows, where the undergrowth has yet to be established and the ground looks dull.

And these birds aren't particularly afraid of me; I can carefully approach them to take photos, at a reasonable and safe distance, of course. They're busy with their own affairs: some are hunting, some are gathering material for a future nest.
