🦉 The European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
📚 Carduelis carduus (Latin) thistle

Mid-late July is the best time to admire these beautiful colorful birds. At this time, the thistle is in full bloom. And it is the seeds of this plant that these birds love so much, as you can guess from their scientific Latin name.
I saw these guys in a clearing near the river bank. They chirped and happily took out the seeds of these plants from the inflorescence. They were so carried away that they could not tear themselves away from this process. At any other time of the year, they would fly away scared of me, but then they only looked at me with displeasure and continued to feast on the seeds.
