🦉 The European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
📚 Carduelis carduus (Latin) thistle

This beautiful multi-colored bird cannot be confused with any other.
The male and female at first glance do not differ from each other, but if you look closely, you will notice that the female has a red spot on the muzzle that does not go beyond the eye. In addition, the adult male has a black wing fold, while the female has brownish spots.

Calls and cries in flocks are a pleasant chirping consisting of different sounds. The song is lively and beautiful, consisting of a quick set of various chirps and trills, among which the same calls are sometimes heard.
The favorite food of goldfinches is burdock seeds, which birds deftly take out of dry prickly burdocks. As well as thistle seeds, as evidenced by their Latin name.
