As a kid you already laid out a plan on how your life was going to be like, from the school you would go to, to the kind of job you will get, to when you buy your first car and your first house. I bet most of you predicted you will get your first house before 25? How is that working out for you? Life is tough, no doubt, most times because we are stuck in that mental phase of the plans we made for our self when we were kids, we don’t want to let go of that promise because letting go is like disappointing our 10 year old self.
When we start approaching the so called age we promised ourselves we were going to achieve all our dreams, we start panicking and looking for ways to achieve those dreams really fast. Especially in our modern world right now where social media is the world’s greatest influence to us. You come online and see that your old school mate is celebrating his “win” on social media, all of a sudden you feel worthless and sad like you are not doing enough. The truth is most of them won’t tell you how they do it or what they do to get the so called “win”. But you are the one getting mentally stressed and wanting things to go so fast for you.
When I was 17 I promised myself I was going to get a Jaguar(Car) at 21 and buy my first house at 25. While saying this, I never had a plan on what job to do or any hustle that was going to help me achieve that. I just got admitted into the university that year, still in my first year. I said that because I had faith that something was going to come up, at 19 I was approaching the year I promised myself a Jaguar car, once again I had no job or any means to get me that car. I decided to gamble and play raffle draws to see if I can win. How stupid was I at that time? Thinking I could cheat my way to wealth by gambling and playing lottos and raffle draws. I was looking for the fastest way to get to where I want to be, which is usually not how life works.
2 years later I got to 21, had some money made from ETH but it wasn’t enough to buy the Jaguar(car) I promised myself. I felt I needed to make this money very fast, because by the end of the year I would turn 22 and I will disappoint my kid self. I took a very big risk hoping I would get a massive reward and be proud of my self. I envied that sentence“I bought my first Jaguar Car all by myself at 21”. But I forgot that I was not in a race with anyone. I’m on this journey alone and am responsible for my own life and journey.
I took the risk, and it failed, this was really painful because I had to learn life the hard way. I was 21 with no Jaguar car and the little money that wasn’t enough to buy a Jaguar car but was decently okay, was also gone. If I had to stuck to my slow way of making the money initially, it’s possible that I won’t have gotten the car at 21 but may be at 22.
As a you g person who is seeing the achievements of their mates and you are there wondering when will your time come. Or when are you going to share your own story and feel successful, the best timing depends on being consistent and focused. Always be intentional on the process and growth, learn to enjoy the process and stop being in competition with those people you see on social media. As long as you are putting in the work, is just a matter of time before things will fall in place. If you are doubting, read post from people who got their lives changed by Hive because they always showed up every day to contribute to the blockchain. I was reading a post from and he gave a very positive remark on how Hive has been great to him, so great he doesn’t consider taking another job. I also read another by
on The Secrets For Getting Really Lucky On Hive. On this post you are going to understand that the reason we consider the successful people to be lucky is because we never saw them during the days of putting efforts and works. We only started noticing them when their works and efforts started speaking for them through their success.
We try to equate our results to that of others forgetting that the difference between our efforts and their results we are seeing is time. Most times I try to imagine, would we be more patient and grateful with our efforts if social media didn’t exist. Don’t get me wrong social media has a lot of advantage. There are people who see people’s success as a motivation to putting more work and being better. They get motivated and add extra effort to make sure they achieve those results they are looking for, while some see people’s success and feel like giving up because they feel they are stagnant.
Take things slowly and in due time you will find yourself where you want to be. It doesn’t matter when we see ourselves there, the main point is that we got to our destination.
