Hello everyone! Most of you probably haven't read my introduction post thats why i want to mention again that i am a clinical chemist. This is my first post, so i hope you enjoy it!
In our days we all try to eat more vegetables or fruits, because is healthier than eating meat, but is that true?
The fertilizers are expensive and farmers can not afford to buy fertilizers so the easy way is to use injections to have more vegetables and fruits quickly.They also spray with silicon to look fresher and more shiny. The medicines are easily available and the produsers inject the vegetables at night and in the morning they become bigger in size.
One kind of medicine is calling Oxytocin .Oxytocin is a hormone that naturally occuring and acts primarily as a neutrotransmitter in the brain and figures largely in female reproduction, sexual and emotional behaviour, but on the other hand in high doses it can cause psychiatric side effects, kidney failure and cirrhosis of the liver.
Becides oxytocin, there's other documented chemicals used to dress up produse, such as Copper Sulfate and Malahite green to artificially encane the colours of fruits and vegetables and Calcium Carbide for quick ripening.
Plus a chemical called Eritrozin B is usually used in the production of candies, it was recentrly discovered that this substance is used in the prossesing of fruits and vegetables in order to make them look fresh, but do u know that is full of additives (E127)?
We have to be careful in what we eat. Buy biological food. WE ARE WHAT WE EAT!
