Having the right perspective is sometimes difficult, especially when we are looking at something close up. The subject of this photograph could pass for any number of things. That is the most frequent question I am asked when I share this photograph with others: What is it?
Is it an old cracked pot?
Is it an old playground structure?
Is it some cracked, rusty old machinery?
To get perspective, sometimes we need to take a step back. I didn't keep a photograph that answers the questions about this one. And I like it that way. The mystery surrounding this photograph brings out its beauty. The red. The texture. The lines. The spider-web. I know what the subject is, but sometimes I like forgetting.
I snapped this photo back in 2014 in a little rural town in southern Alberta for a photography class.
