United made three changes to their team with, Eric Baily, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata replacing Victor Lindelof, Jesse Lingard and injured Juan Mata. Liverpool's only change was James Milner starting ahead of Jordan Henderson.
Rashford latched unto a Romelu Lukaku flick on to cut outside of Trent Alexander-Arnold before firing past Karius into the far corner to give United the lead in the 14th minute and doubled his team's advantage in almost similar fashion in the 24th minute before a 66th minute Eric Baily own goal gave Liverpool a lifeline for a possible comeback but United held their ground for a three points.
It was a game of "number" for the Young English star, Marcus Rashford, who was scoring his first brace since making his debut in February 2016. His first strike was his first goal since December 10 and he got his second of the afternoon 10 minutes later.
