I had a couple of weeks of running what with moving and just being a bit lazy, but felt in the mood to get back out there last week and managed three runs, albeit short!
- Thursday 4K - getting back into it
- Sunday - 4.5K at a 4.58 pace
- Monday - 4.5K at a 4.51 pace (same route as the day before)
I don't usually do back to back runs, but having failed to get out Saturday I had to a Sunday run, and then I wanted a full day at work Tuesday (yesterday) so really had to another run on the Bank Holiday Monday, made sense!
Gradually getting faster, even with the back to back runs, although not too impressive a pace, but relaxed is what I'm feeling right now!
The route....
I did the same route for each of the three runs, it's a VERY nice route, perfect if you want a flat, pleasant, varied short run.... twice across a river, about 2/3rds of it through parks with some pavement running too, and five distinct stages as I see it, and it ends near enough on my front door step, naturally!
The stats...
These were very similar for all three runs, and see the flat elevation!
The pace wasn't quite THAT consistent, the scale is just pretty squashed on Garmin. In fact misleading even: I was around the 5.00 mark for most it and then up to 4.30 or faster towards the end of all the runs, as you do!
And with my heart rate gradually rising towards the end of the run, but nothing too crazy, I felt fine!
Next weeks plans...
Well I'll get out for the same run Thursday, and then I guess I should mix it up a bit with something maybe hillier, and I might even take a drive out of Hereford for a few miles, there is some beautiful countryside around here and it's the perfect time of year for enjoying it!
For now it's just nice to be back to running and I'm glad to have a nice short run right on my doorstep, and it's easy enough to extend this by several miles and for it still be very pleasant too!
It's good to have options, for sure!
