Busy, busy, busy... Do you ever feel like you've bitten off far more than you can chew? I'm pretty sure, if you could visualize my work schedule, I'd look like a chipmunk trying to stuff an entire oak tree worth of acorns into my cheeks. But, I still squeak out a few bits of fun every now and then---like this new piece of crypto-art!
This is one of my new 8 Bit Beasties digital trading cards, based on faux-video game sprites (digital drawings inspired by my love of old video game art.) These pieces, of which this is only the first, are being tokenized by MakersPlace, and can be looked at (and even COLLECTED) at my MakersPlace store! They will be available in an edition of FIVE cards per design! Here's the first, "Information Officer Harplack" (along with my explanation for the piece from my store):
A new concept, I've decided to collect a number of my "sprites" from various fictional video games, supposedly produced in the 1980s, into a digital trading card series! I grew up in the 1970s and '80s, when video games were NEW and exciting, and I've loved the artwork associated with video games since I first discovered them. In addition, films, like TRON (1982) and THE BLACK HOLE (1979) and NIGHTMARES (1983), with those early computer and computer inspired graphics, were massive influences on my style---and my perceptions of what "the Future" was supposed to look like! This particular beastie is an Information Officer, in charge of the waves of craft attacking a human space station in a standard, drop-from-the-sky game (in the style of SPACE INVADERS or GALAGA.) To me, this is all very funny...
And that's today's JOURNEY INTO ADVENTURE! I'm hoping to have a few more of these little things created by this weekend! (I also have a book review to write tomorrow, plus work, plus finishing organizing the garage, plus checking on the new grandkid, plus getting back to my R.P.G. that I started over a year ago, plus the THREE books I'm trying to finish editing, plus sorting through artwork for the next yard sale, plus..... Busy, busy, busy...)
