Evangelion 🟣| Movie Review - You Can (NOT) Advance!

The first thing that needs to be said is: "Any Evangelion work is VERY difficult to fully understand." The Evangelion 2.2 movie, or 2.22 You Can (NOT) Advance, is a "kind of" continuation of the anime, and I say "kind of" because it seems that some interactions between the characters have changed and the story has been slightly altered. For those who only followed Evangelion through the anime, it's perfect because you can go straight to this movie and understand basically everything that's happening, and having a continuation of such a remarkable work as Evangelion is incredible.

This film, unlike the others and even the anime's ending, starts off amicably, but as usual, it starts to get crazy towards the end. For those who haven't seen it yet, I recommend it because it has many iconic events, and it's precisely these events that we're going to briefly discuss. Spoiler Alert!

Appearance of a new Eva Pilot!

In the Evangelion anime, we are basically introduced to 3 Eva pilots: Shinji, Ayanami, and Asuka. In this Evangelion film, You Can (NOT) Advance, we have the appearance of a new Eva pilot named Mari. As is typical for Evangelion, we don't have access to much information about her, but throughout the film and the rest of the other films, she proves to be a very experienced pilot and, unlike the others who focus on close combat, she is focused on long-range attacks.

What happened to Asuka?

Near the middle to the end of the film, another major event occurs, one that holds a great mystery. Asuka's unit ends up being consumed by an angel. Because her capsule is inside the angel, Shinji refuses to attack, and Gendo Ikari activates a Dummy system that controls Unit 01 without Shinji's intervention. This part leaves a certain mystery about what happened to Asuka, whether she survived or was cloned like Rei Ayanami.

Almost Third Impact

This movie is packed with events because, in addition to a new character and the mystery of what happened to Asuka, the Third Impact almost happened. The reason for this is that when Shinji tries to save Rei, as usual he ends up messing things up, making the world even worse, because even though the impact wasn't complete, it caused a process of mass destruction and left several parts of the world uninhabitable.

A primeira frase que precisa ser dita é: “Qualquer obra de Evangelion é BEM difícil de ser compreendida 100%”. O filme de Evangelion 2.2 ou 2.22 You Can (NOT) Advance é um “tipo” de continuação do anime, e eu digo “tipo” por que parece que algumas interações entre os personagens mudou e a história foi um pouco alterada. Para quem acompanhou Evangelion apenas pelo anime é perfeito porque você consegue ir direto para esse filme e entender basicamente tudo que está acontecendo e ter uma continuação de uma obra tão marcante como Evangelion é incrível.

Esse filme diferente dos demais e do final do próprio anime é começa de forma amigável, mas como de costume próximo do final começa a virar uma loucura. Para quem ainda não viu fica a dica porque tem muito acontecimento icônicos e é justamente sobre esses acontecimentos que vamos passar rapidamente. Spoiler Alert!

Aparição de uma nova Eva Pilot!

No anime de Evangelion somos apresentados basicamente 3 pilotos de Eva: Shinji, Ayanami e Asuka. Nesse filme You Can (NOT) Advance de Evangelion, temos a aparição de uma nova piloto de Eva chamada Mari. Como padrão evangelion não temos acesso à muitas informações sobre ela, mas ao longo do filme e do restante dos outros filmes ela se mostra uma piloto muito experiente e diferente dos demais que focam no combate corpo a corpo ela é focada em ataques de longa distância.

O que aconteceu com a Asuka?

Próximo do meio para o final do filme, um outro grande acontimento ocorre e que possui um grande mistério. A unidade da asuka acaba sendo consumida por um anjo. Pela capsula dela estar dentro do anjo o Shinji se recusa a atacar e nisso o Gendo Ikari ativa um sistema Dummy que controla a unidade 01 sem a necessidade de intervenção do Shinji. Nessa parte fica um certo mistério sobre o que aconteceu com a Asuka se ela sobrevive ou se foi clonada igual acontece com a Rei Ayanami.

Quase Terceiro Impacto

Esse filme é recheado de acontecimentos porque além de um novo personagem, do mistério do que aconteceu com a Asuka ainda quase aconteceu o Terceiro Impacto. O motivo disso é que quando Shinji tenta salvar a Rei, como de costume acaba fazendo besteira, deixando o mundo ainda pior, porque mesmo que o impacto não tenha sido concluído ele causou um processo de destruição em massa e deixou diversas partes do mundo inabitável.
