Our ancestors are our past forefathers and is good for us to respect them because they are part of our family member. However, our faith and trust should belong to God above all things. The Bible warns against worshiping the dead or seeking spiritual guidance from ancestors instead of God. True guidance should come from God’s word and His Spirit.
In the Old Testament, the people of God remembered their forefathers such as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob because of their faith and obedience to God. With this act the future generations follow the idea and also practice it too. But the Bible never teaches people to pray to ancestors or depend on them for protection, blessings, or salvation. God alone deserves worship and complete trust.
