A few days ago we made a super necessary cleaning to the terrarium where we have our morrocoyitas, because what they have of tender, they have of disastrous, and as their little house is in our living room, it is time to clean it regularly.
And this is a job that I usually do myself, because I'm afraid that the kids might accidentally break the bowl and cut themselves, so I have to take it down and take care of everything, meanwhile, they supervise that "Boby" and "Soy Flash" don't get lost in the yard.
As I tell them, they are a sweetheart, but seriously they are terrible. They go over the water and spill it all over, and even if I bury the container very well, I don't know how they get it out of place, so they constantly have a muddy mess.
Not to mention the leftover food, which is usually fruit, and although they eat with great desire, sometimes there are leftovers that after filling them with dirt, they refuse to eat, so of course, they have to clean up often, and this is quite a process.
What I do is to lower the bowl and with the help of a shovel I remove as much soil as possible, until I can turn it upside down and discard the remaining soil.
Then, with the help of the hose and a brush, I clean the whole bowl very well and let it dry on the table where I do this work.
While I work, they take the opportunity to sunbathe and eat some leaves in the yard under the supervision of the children, because despite their reputation for being slow, you can lose sight of them in no time at all.
Continuing with the cleaning. Once the bowl is well dry, I start to fill it with soil again, I place a new container for the water, and as always, I place some stones to "decorate " their house, and the truth is I don't know why I keep doing it, since they take care of burying them pretty fast.

And if you see them small for the almost two years that they have, you can imagine how small they were when they came home, so they have grown quite a lot, just very very slowly, something that really does not bother me, because children enjoy their baby period for a long time, which does not happen with other pets.
So I have to continue cleaning up the mess of these two naughty little ones for quite a while.
Hace unos días hicimos una limpieza súper necesaria al terrario donde tenemos nuestras morrocoyitas, porque lo que tienen de tiernas, lo tienen de desastrosas, y como su casita está en nuestra sala, toca limpiarla con regularidad.
Y este es un trabajo que generalmente hago yo, porque me da temor que los niños puedan romper accidentalmente el bol y cortarse, así que me toca bajarlo y hacerme cargo de todo, mientras tanto, ellos supervisan que "Boby" y "Soy Flash" no se pierdan en el patio.
Como les digo, ellas son una ternura, pero en serio que son terribles. Pasan por encima del agua y la derraman por completo, y aunque entierre muy bien el envase, no sé cómo hacen para sacarlo de su lugar, por lo que constantemente tienen un lodazal armado.
Sin contar los restos de comida, que generalmente son frutas, y aunque comen con muchas ganas, algunas veces quedan restos que luego de llenarlos de tierra, se niegan a comer, así que por supuesto, toca limpiar seguido, y esto es todo un proceso.
Lo que hago es bajar el bol y con ayuda de una palita voy sacando la mayor cantidad de tierra posible, hasta que puedo darle vuelta y descartar la tierra restante.
Seguidamente, con ayuda de la manguera y un cepillo, limpio muy bien todo el bol y lo dejo secar sobre la mesita donde hago este trabajo.
A todas estas, mientras yo trabajo, ellas aprovechan de tomar sol y comer algunas hojas del patio bajo la supervisión de los niños, porque a pesar de su fama de lentas, en un dos por tres las puedes perder de vista.
Continuando con la limpieza. Una vez que el bol está bien seco, comienzo a llenarlo de tierra nuevamente, ubico un nuevo envase para el agua, y como siempre, coloco algunas piedras para "decorarles" su casa, y la verdad no sé por qué lo sigo haciendo, ya que ellas se encargan bastante rápido de enterrarlas.

Y si las ven pequeñas para los casi dos años que tienen, ya se podrán imaginar cuan chiquitas estaban cuando llegaron a casa, así que han crecido bastante, solo que muy muy lento, cosa que en realidad no me molesta, ya que los niños disfrutan por muchísimo tiempo su período de bebés, lo que no sucede con otras mascotas.
Así que me toca por un buen tiempo seguir limpiando el desorden de estas dos pequeñas traviesas.
