Por aquí, preparándonos para un fin de semana largo, ya que mañana es el día del trabajador y el lunes para los que vivimos en Margarita, se celebra la independencia de nuestro estado, por lo que tenemos un puente de 4 días para "descansar".
El día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajito que estuve realizando para el cuarto de mi chiquita y del que quedé absolutamente enamorada, se trata de un exhibidor de photocards tipo cuadro con marco blanco y efecto flotante en el que el atractivo visual, por lo menos para mí, es realmente hermoso, ya que utilicé dos láminas de vidrios y ubiqué las photocards dentro de las láminas y al no tener ninguna base de fondo pareciera que las tarjetas están flotando.
Hello, everyone, how are you? I hope you’re all doing well. Over here, we’re getting ready for a long weekend, as tomorrow is Labour Day and on Monday, for those of us living in Margarita, we’re celebrating our state’s independence, so we’ve got a four-day bank holiday to “relax”.
Today I want to share with you a little project I’ve been working on for my little girl’s room, which I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. It’s a picture-frame-style photo card display with a white frame and a floating effect. The visual appeal, at least for me, is truly beautiful, as I used two sheets of glass and placed the photo cards inside them; and as there’s no backing, it looks as though the cards are floating.
Este proyecto es uno de los muchos que tenemos en mente para decorar la habitación de Miranda, específicamente la parte donde se encuentra su cama, lo que sería la pared focal de la habitación, y como les comenté en mi post de ayer uno de los elementos principales de esta decoración son 3 cuadros enmarcados que decidimos realizar de esta manera, y digo decidimos porque todo este proceso no lo estoy realizando sola, sino con Miranda, lo que ha sido bastante divertido, ya que no sentamos a buscar ideas y planificar quién realizará cada cosa.
En este caso en particular, ya que íbamos a trabajar con vidrio, decidí que el proyecto lo realizaría yo para evitar accidentes, no solo con la ruptura del vidrio, sino que Miranda podría cortarse, cosa que de hecho me sucedió a mí, ya que tengo varias cortaditas por allí pero nada serio.
En fin, este es un trabajo yo diría que bastante sencillo, pero que debe realizarse con mucho cuidado prestando atención a los detalles para obtener buenos resultados a nivel visual. Y ahora sí, manos a la obra!
This project is one of the many we have in mind for decorating Miranda’s bedroom, specifically the area where her bed is, which will be the room’s feature wall, and as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, one of the main elements of this décor is three framed pictures that we decided to create in this way, and I say ‘we decided’ because I’m not doing this whole process on my own, but with Miranda, which has been quite fun, as we sat down to brainstorm ideas and plan who would do what.
In this particular case, as we were going to be working with glass, I decided I would carry out the project myself to avoid accidents – not just the glass breaking, but Miranda might cut herself, which actually happened to me, as I’ve got a few little cuts here and there, though nothing serious.
Anyway, I’d say this is a fairly simple project, but it needs to be done very carefully, paying close attention to the details to achieve good visual results. And now, let’s get to work!

Para la elaboración de este proyecto, en mi caso no gasté ni un centavo ya que por dicha tenía en casa todo lo necesario, y es que para los marcos utilicé unos que estaban en casa donde se encontraban enmarcados nuestros diplomados de la primaria y que por supuesto solo estaban ocupando espacio, así que decidí quitarlos y darles uso para el cuarto de Miranda, y lo primero que hice fue retirar los diplomas.
Para esta tarea utilicé el cúter y retiré tanto el cartón de la parte de atrás junto con la cinta adhesiva que tenía que como ven habla claramente de los años de estos diplomas.
In my case, I didn’t spend a penny on this project, as I was lucky enough to have everything I needed at home. For the frames, I used some that were already there, which had held our primary school certificates and were, of course, just taking up space, so I decided to take them down and put them to use in Miranda’s room. The first thing I did was remove the certificates.
For this task, I used a craft knife and removed both the cardboard backing and the adhesive tape, which, as you can see, clearly shows the age of these certificates.
Una vez retiré todo, quité el vidrio con mucho cuidado ya que es bastante delgado y lo lavé al igual que el marco y una vez seco comencé con el trabajo de pintura, y en este caso Miranda escogió el color blanco, aunque yo quería lila, pero como es su habitación hay que respetar sus gustos, así que tomé el pincel y cubrí de blanco todo el marco.
En este caso le di tres capas para que quedara perfectamente cubierto.
Once I’d taken everything off, I removed the glass very carefully as it’s quite thin, and washed it along with the frame. Once it was dry, I started painting; in this case, Miranda chose white, although I wanted lilac, but as it’s her room, I had to respect her tastes, so I picked up the brush and painted the whole frame white.
In this case, I applied three coats to ensure it was perfectly covered.
El siguiente paso es armar el diseño que vamos a crear y decidir cuántas photocards utilizar, y en este punto tuve que leer un poco sobre cómo presentarlas y organizarlas para que luzcan como corresponde y respetando la estética k-pop, y resulta que la mejor forma es ubicarlas dejando espacios entre sí y que se vean lo más organizadas posible y para esto lo que hice fue elaborar una guía que coloqué debajo del vidrio donde irían las photocards.
The next step is to put together the layout we’re going to create and decide how many photocards to use. At this point, I had to do a bit of research on how to arrange and organise them so that they look just right and fit with the K-pop aesthetic. It turns out that the best way is to space them out so they look as organised as possible. To do this, I created a guide and placed it underneath the glass where the photocards would go.
Listo el patrón a seguir el siguiente paso es el armado de nuestro cuadro y lo que haremos colocar la primera pieza de vidrio y la fijamos con silicón por la parte de arriba solo en las esquinas, y una vez fijado lo limpiamos súper bien con un paño de microfibra por ambos lados y nos aseguramos de eliminar incluso las huellas digitales.
Now that we have the template ready, the next step is to assemble our frame. We’ll start by placing the first piece of glass and securing it with silicone along the top edge, applying it only at the corners. Once it’s in place, we’ll clean it thoroughly with a microfibre cloth on both sides, making sure to remove even the fingerprints.
El siguiente paso es ubicar el otro vidrio sobre la guía que tenemos y organizar las photocards en sus lugares, y en este punto hago un paréntesis para comentarles que como estos son artículos de colección no se pueden dañar, así que no puedo usar ningún tipo de pega, por lo que la mejor opción para mi fueron los tacos de adhesivo doble faz que puedo retirar de las photocards sin dañarlas ya que la superficie de estas es lisa y como plastificada, pero por si acaso solo usé dos taquitos ya que para Miranda esos son tesoros preciados.
The next step is to place the other sheet of glass over the guide we have and arrange the photocards in their places. At this point, I’d like to pause to mention that, as these are collectables, they mustn’t be damaged, so I can’t use any kind of glue. The best option for me was double-sided adhesive pads, which I can remove from the photocards without damaging them, as their surface is smooth and laminated. Just to be on the safe side, I only used two small pads, as these are precious treasures to Miranda.
Una vez puse todas las photocards en su lugar las fijé con el adhesivo, limpié muy bien los espacios entre ellas y coloqué el vidrio en el marco justo con el otro, quedando las photocards "atrapadas" entre ambos vidrios, lo que crea el efecto flotante que la verdad es súper lindo y muy atractivo visualmente, pero si ustedes desean, detrás del vidrio pueden colocar algún papel de colores, ya eso depende del gusto de cada quien.
Once I’d put all the photo cards in place, I secured them with the adhesive, cleaned the gaps between them thoroughly, and fitted the glass into the frame so that it sat flush against the others, leaving the photo cards "trapped" between the two panes of glass, creating a floating effect which is actually really lovely and very visually appealing, but if you prefer, you can place some coloured paper behind the glass – it really depends on personal taste.
Una vez ubicamos el vidrio en su lugar lo fijamos con silicón caliente y listo. Tenemos terminado nuestro marco flotante para exhibir photocards que en este caso son del grupo Enhypen, pero obviamente ustedes pueden colocar lo que deseen.
Once we’ve positioned the glass in place, we secure it with hot glue and that’s it. Our floating frame for displaying photocards is now complete; in this case, they’re of the group Enhypen, but obviously you can put whatever you like in it.
Como pueden ver es un trabajo sencillo pero con un efecto visual precioso y que resalta muchísimo en la pared, así que los invito a experimentar en casita y darle vida a sus espacios.
As you can see, it’s a simple project but one with a beautiful visual effect that really stands out on the wall, so I encourage you to give it a go at home and bring your spaces to life.
