Hello! I'm back!
I've been conducting some demanding fieldwork in the last weeks.
In order to build good quality crop maps based on satellite images we have to collect lots of information in the ground. With a fair amount of good quality data the process can be automated and achieve good results. After Portugal, Spain and France I was now in Poland and Romania.
The program was like: fly to the nearest city, rent a car, drive to certain precise locations to check what type of culture is being grown there (in that particular plot), grab something to eat (never formal lunch), end late, go to the hotel, have dinner and sleep.
When the regions were close to one another, we drove to the next one and repeated the process. When the regions were a bit far we had to fly and start all over again... (rent a car... bla bla bla)
It was pretty exhausting but obviously it was nice to know new places. It's not like we are on vacation and get to choose where to go and what to visit. We just had to visit certain places and that was it. Nevertheless, this discovery feeling is very exciting and we were very lucky to be at very beautiful regions.
The first few days were spent in the Nowy Targ County. The previous and the following photos were all taken somewhere in this beautiful county. Enjoy!
