It's not a novelty. Wild animals living near humans tend to stay away but also seek opportunities. When we expand our cities into animals territories we promote interactions. Bears looking for food in our trash, crocodiles in the swimming pool, etc.
In India for instance pets being hunted by wild predators is a nor a rare thing.
Youtube is rich in such videos.
Puma hunting a doberman, Leopard hunting a labrador, etc.
Here is one of the videos that impressed me the most because it shows how well equipped these felines are. Night vision, silent movement, tactics, patience, speed, teeth, claws, agility and pure strength.
For those of you suffering for the labrador... relax. This one survived. There's another video of him with severe wounds but happily recovering.
The smaller dogs are carried away and are gone forever but the larger ones sometimes are saved by the owners that show up due to the noise.
