Robert was a kind and loving person, yet he had a lonely inclination, the life of a hermit did not scare him. So he answered almost as a challenge to an announcement in which somebody was looking for a lighthouse keeper who could move there with his family. The owners were amazed when they saw him arriving with just Bobby, his sheepdog, and were even more so when he celebrated his 10th birthday there.

Robert era una persona gentile e amorevole, eppure aveva un'inclinazione solitaria, la vita da eremita non lo spaventava. Cosi rispose quasi per sfida ad un annuncio in cui si cercava un guardiano per faro che potesse trasferirsi li con la famiglia. I proprietari furono stupiti quando lo videro arrivare solo con Bobby, il suo cane pastore, e lo furono ancora di più quando festeggiarono i suoi 10 anni anni di vita li.
