We continue our tour of Soest today, but this time I am going more towards the center of the city, where there are two very interesting churches. One of them is the Evangelical church, and the other is the Raman-Catholic church, which is commonly known as the cathedral, although in fact it is not a cathedral. Each of these buildings has its own story, which I will tell you when we get there, but we will again go deeper into the charming and beautiful streets and Soest . And, of course, we start from the place where we recently finished our tour, i.e. right behind the market square.

Kontynuujemy dziś naszą wycieczkę po Soest , tym razem jednak zmierzam bardziej ku środkowi miasta , gdzie znajdują się dwa bardzo ciekawe kościoły. Jeden z nich to kościół ewangelicki ,a drugi to kościół romańsko-katolicki który potocznie zwany jest katedrą choć w rzeczywistości nią nie jest . Każdy z tych budynków ma swoja historie którą przybliżę gdy dotrzemy na miejsce , tym czasem ponownie zagłębimy się ponownie w urokliwe i piękne ulice i uliczki Soest'u . A ruszamy oczywiście z miejsca w którym zakończyliśmy ostatnio nasze zwiedzanie , czyli zaraz za ryneczkiem .

It turns out that two churches are located next to each other, that very close to the market square we saw, we could get there in the blink of an eye but we decided to walk around to see most of the city, the tower of St. Petri is already clearly visible from the alleys

Okazuje się że dwa kościoły które znajdujące się obok siebie ,są bardzo blisko ryneczku który zwiedzaliśmy , moglibyśmy tam dojść w mgnieniu oka ale postanowiliśmy jednak przejść na około by zobaczyć większą część miasta , tym czasem wieża ewangelickiego St. Petri jest już dobrze widoczna z uliczek.

We went to a slightly newer part of the city where the streets were wider, but we were surrounded mainly by old tenement houses, which, however, was in excellent condition, colorful, and clean ... it still made an impression

Wyszliśmy na nieco nowszą część miasta gdzie ulice były szersze natomiast otaczały nas głównie stare kamienice ,które jednak były w doskonałym stanie , zadbane , pomalowane , i czyste .... nadal robiło to wrażenie

The building of the Evangelical Church of St. Petri. Time, what not to write about him

St. Petri, called by the locals "Alde Kerke". It is the oldest parish church in Soest, and one of the oldest church foundations in Westphalia. Already at the end of the 8th century, a church was built here that was related to the mission of Charlemagne in Saxony. St. Petri is the main the church of the Evangelical parish of St. Petri Pauli in Soest. The previous church was built here in 800, but the city began to expand quickly and, consequently, the church became too small. It was decided to add nowe elements , thus enlarging it over time. And so in 1180 a vestibule was added to the northern side, and in the 13th a Godtic choir in place of a small apse, of course, it will not stop there. And the history of this Building is much longer

Św. Petri, zwany przez miejscowych „Alde Kerke”. Jest to najstarszy kościół parafialny w Soest i jedną z najstarszych fundacji kościelnych w Westfalii. Już pod koniec VIII wieku wybudowano tu kościół związany z misją Karola Wielkiego w Saksonii. St Petri jest głównym kościołem ewangelickiej parafii St Petri Pauli w Soest. Poprzedni kościół zbudowano tu w 800 roku, ale miasto zaczęło się szybko rozrastać i w konsekwencji kościół stał się za mały. Postanowiono dodać nowe elementy, powiększając budynek z czasem. I tak w 1180 dobudowano przedsionek do strony północnej, a w XIII chór gotycki w miejsce małej absydy oczywiście na tym się nie poprzestano .A historia tej Budowli jest znacznie dłuższa.

This church is considered to be the epitome of the Romanesque style in Westphalia. The building belonged to the Convent of the Canons of St. Patrokli which was built in the 10th century which existed until the abolition in 1812. In 1823 it became the parish church of St. Patrokli which in turn became part of the diocese of Paderborn. In 1859, the church was elevated to the rank of Presbyter. The temple, of course, was rebuilt several times and enlarged similarly as it was in the case of the building I wrote about earlier. It is worth mentioning the very beginning of this building associated with Archbishop Cologne City- Bruno I, who brought the relics of St. Patroclus in 962 to Soest, and in 965 he wrote 100 pounds in silver for the foundations of this temple.

Kościół ten uważany jest za uosobienie stylu romańskiego w Westfalii . Budynek należał go klasztoru kanoników św. Patrokli który został wybudowany w X wieku który istniał aż do zniesienia w 1812. Natomiast w roku 1823 stał sie kościołem parafialnym św. Patrokli która zaś stała się częścią diecezji Paderborn. W 1859 roku z kościół został podniesiony do rangi Prepozyta. Świątynia oczywiście został parokrotnie przebudowany i powiększony podobnie jak to miało miejsce w wypadku wcześnie wspomnianego budynku. Należy wspomnieć o samym początku tego budynku związanego z Arcybiskupem Koloni Bruno I który sprowadził do Soest relikwie św. Patroclusa w 962 , natomiast w 965 zapisał 100 funtów w srebrze na fundacje tej świątyni.

Right behind these churches there is a square surrounded by interesting and old buildings, the building of the registry office deserves our careful attention, we decided to stop there for a while and look around
