CryptoKitties
Hey Blogs,
Ok so I just brought my first cat just now. No this is not a physical furry cat that I must feed and look after so in return the cat rubs up against me and claw me every time she wants food. No this is a very different type of cat, this is a Crypto Cat!
What the hell is a Crypto Cat I hear you all scream?? Don’t worry I’m asking myself that same question!
As far as I understand a Crypto Cat is just a picture of a very badly drawn cartoon of what is supposed to look like and resemble a cat. Crytokitties is a Block Chain based game and one of the first that I have ever heard of using the Ethereum platform or rather it uses Ethereums Block Chain technology.
Because it uses Block Chain technology you can buy and sell these cats to other players in the game and the other players will always receive their cats that they have purchase from you.
So great I have this digital cat, what do I do with it?? Nothing you just wait until someone wants to buy it from you for a higher price than what you paid for it, simple and you make a profit.
So why would anyone what to buy and own digital cat?? That same question must be asked as to why would anyone want to own a Bitcoin?? You can’t physically touch any of these two digital entities or put them in your pocket.
The way how I see a “Crytokittie” or “Cryto Cat” is that it is just another type of Bitcoin but with a very furry face or a Bitcoin with a personality and physical features. Bitcoin is just digital code that travels from computer A to computer B using Block Chain as the highway to get to its destination.
This Cryto Cat is exactly the same thing only now the digital code is in the form of a picture resembling a cat. So people can look at this cat and have something that they can relate to.
This game as silly as it looks and sounds is actually very clever in the sense that it is tapping into the part of the human brain that controls possession and ownership. Why do people collect stamps, baseball cards, or even pad locks? Because people want to own things and they feel that these items hold value. The fact that the Ethereum Block Chain is having trouble trying to keep up with the new amount of traffic now moving on the system really makes you wonder what is it going to be like when another DApp trading something like Super Mario characters, Street Fight 2 characters or Pokémon characters comes available?
Already generation 0 cats (that’s the first cats to come out) are selling for around 49 ETH = $32,867 Australian dollars!
.
How much would some one pay to buy a Street Fighter 2 character?
So yes start buying Crytokitties and hold on to them, they could be worth a lot of money in just a few weeks or months
Again let me know if I’m on the right track or if you agree with what I’m saying.
Cheers
Rob
