Mai Tai Cocktail
The Mai Tai was born in the Trader Vic restaurant in Oakland (California) in 1944, although...
as happens with many cocktails, there are several who take note of their authorship. One of them, a former rival of Trader Vic's creator, is Don the Beachcomber, which also had several restaurants with a Polynesian atmosphere in the United States. However, its recipe is and its taste is different from that of Mai Tai. In fact, we can find up to eleven different recipes of the same combination. The official one contains the following ingredients:
Source
30 ml toasted rum
15 ml orange juice
15 ml of syrup
5 ml stone sugar
10 ml of lime juice
30 ml white rum
Mix and shake all the ingredients except the toasted rum in a shaker with ice. With the mixture done, add the toasted rum on top. You can decorate it with lime zest and a straw, for example.
