Hi everyone,today I want to share my story of how I started crocheting,back then when I was still very small,I didn't live with my parents though,but the mummy I lived with was into knitting,she has the knitting machine and the knitting pins.
Her niche of knitting was baby cardigans and socks,along the line I had interest in the needle work,I begged her to teach me but she refused.
I remember then when she starts knitting with the knitting needles,I would take two pieces of broomsticks and sowing thread and try to do what she was doing,it was really hard then that I really wanted to learn but she refused teaching me.
I left her place after my secondary school education,I struggled to gain admission into the university for like 6 years thereabouts,those times I did so many jobs,ranging from teaching to working as a sales girl,a sales representative in some supermarket.
In the year 2019,I was fed up already of searching for admission,you could imagine that right,having the right jamb score and the required mark for post utme and you are still not given admission. There are nights I cried myself to sleep,asking myself where I went wrong but I later got admission by the end of the year and you could guess how happy and joyous I was.
I went to school started first semester and so far it was good,later in the year 2020,there was the breakout of the covid-19 pandemic,every where was shut down,there was no work nothing to do,boredom everywhere. So I went online one day and I saw different crochet tops,bikinis,brallete patterns,like wow I was so happy.
so I begin my search to see if I could see someone to teach me,all my efforts was futile and I almost gave up, someone suggested going to YouTube that I'll see videos to help me.
I went to YouTube and luckily for me I saw a whole lot of videos to help out,I went to the market,got yarns and one tiny crochet pin and also knitting pins that if one didn't work,another would.
At first it was interesting because I was getting it,but later I was almost frustrated because I couldn't do beyond the foundation chains. I didn't get how to make a single croche,so I stopped and moved to knitting, knitting seems a little easy but later,I had to stop everything.
Then one day,a friend of mine came and saw me struggling with it,then she helped me out with the single croche,she said she learnt it in secondary school,I had hope again, i dwelt on the single croche till I mastered it,then went back to YouTube and learnt double croche,half double croche and treble croche. Then I crochet my first baby socks and a baby cap though the cap was really small,but I was happy that I made progress.
Some months later,my brother sent me a WhatsApp link for a free crochet class,I was so happy....yeah you could feel the joy right.
I registered for it,and I was taught the basis of crocheting,we were given assignments and I did them,when the free class ended there was payment for an advanced class so I registered and learnt a whole lot from how to make bikini,tops,inner wears,baby wears etc.
I was really glad I took the steps. I also watched online YouTube videos which helped out. I registered for another crochet class and there I learnt how to make beach wears and skirts.
Then I got the complete crochet pin set and it has been a smooth ride.
Then two years ago,I learnt to make Crochet bag and backpacks and I've been making money from it.
Crocheting is really fun to learn but if one is not careful,you can be frustrated because if you make a mistake in any of the pattern,you will have to lose and start all over again. I look forward to impacting people on how to crochet.
