COVID-19 cases in Singapore have surged again. Between May 10–16, 2026, 12,700 cases were recorded, a significant increase compared to 8,000 cases the previous week. This surge has also impacted hospitalizations, with the daily average increasing from 56 to 73 cases per day, as well as an average of one case in intensive care units per day.
However, Singapore's Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) confirmed that public hospitals are still capable of handling the surge. The CDA also emphasized that there is no indication that the currently circulating variant is more contagious or causes more severe disease than previous variants. The CDA stated that periodic waves of COVID-19 are expected to continue throughout the year as part of the endemic respiratory disease pattern. The agency is currently monitoring the development of infections and the situation on the ground. For Indonesian citizens planning to travel to Singapore, this development is a cause for concern.
