The song One Last Goodbye is a song from Anathema's album Judgement and was released in 1999. Anathema were an English rock band from Liverpool. The band was formed in 1990 by Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh, bassist Jamie Cavanagh, drummer/keyboardist John Douglas and vocalist Darren White.

The week I broke up with my ex-girlfriend during my university years, I listened to the song One Last Goodbye literally more than 100 times. It is a song that contains a great deal of emotion.

When I first listened to it, I thought this song was a love song, and many people also think this song is a love song. Years later, I learned that this was not a love song, but a sad song that the band members wrote to their mothers whom they lost when they were children.

If you watched Anathema's concert, you would have witnessed that they not only sang the song One Last Goodbye, but also literally felt the song. Indeed, brothers Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh experience a great intensity of emotion while singing this song, they literally feel the song. I went to Anathema's concert in Izmir 4 years ago and witnessed Vincent Cavanagh crying while singing the song One Last Goodbye. It was a very emotional moment and I learned the story of this song after the concert.

It makes more sense when you listen to two songs consecutively. In 2020, Anathema band announced that they would take an indefinite hiatus . I was very sad about this, I don't know why, but I hope they will return in the future.
