In case you couldn't tell I am just slightly obsessed with EOS's logo. I am close to having 100 variations of the logo logged on Steemit. For a switch up, I wanted to use physical materials to build the chestahedron in celebration of tomorrows token sale.
WARNING: This is a very quick and dirty prototype with just glue and sticks.
The first challenge is figuring out how to size up the shapes inside a chestahedron. When I inspect the logo I see 3 equilaterial triangles whose vertices connect to make a fourth equilateral triangle on which the structure stands. Between those triangles are kite shaped geometries that are also equal. There are total of 7 sides.
Tools:
- Wire cutter
- 12-15 Bamboo Skewers
- Hot glue gun
- Paper
- Sharpie Marker
Instructions:
- Equilateral literally means equal on all sides and I start out by marking 3 bamboo skewers at the 10mm mark.
- Cut three of the skewers at the mark you've made. Double check to make sure the skewers are all 10mm long.
I recommend having the 10 mm end pinned against the flat surface after you've positioned your cutter. This prevents the stick from shooting off during the cut.
- Draw an equilateral triangle on a paper to get a template for how to arrange the sticks and place the sticks along each edge.
- Secure the three corners of the bamboo triangle and lay it on a flat surface.
_I used a hot glue gun and the glue took about 30 seconds to harden.
- Create three equilateral triangles with a missing base.
- Place one of the shapes from step 5 along two points of the triangle from step 4 so that it is perpendicular.
I leaned the step 5 shape against an object that was perpendicular to my work surface.
- Continue what you did with step 6 using the two remaining two sided shapes.
Slide two uncut skewers under the top of two equilateral triangle and secure the tops of the skewers.
Slide a third uncut skewer under the open triangle and secure the third skewer touching the top.
Cut the skewers to a length you are satisfied with (5.5mm - 6mm worked for me) and glue the bottom of the skewer pyramid to the tops of the equilateral triangles.
Pro-tip: If you have crazy nosy neighbors, you can give them fuel for gossip by walking around with a chestahedron and taking pictures of it like it's a million bucks.
