Hey Hive!
Yesterday, I was playing around with some shapes and did some study around the Hive logo. The most noticeable shape of our logo is the hexagon. While the hexagon is made up of 6 identical triangles, you can do all sorts of things when it comes to designing. Placing text in specific areas can be really easy. But in order to do a proper job, you'll have to think a little bit longer. Consistency, flexibility, efficiency, and of course, how powerful is this placement?
While this design may come across as minimalistic and simple. I spend a few hours working on it. I didn't give much thought to the text, there should be much better options to choose from. I was focusing more on the design and the concept of it.

The concept
When it comes to designing graphics, or art in general for that matter, it's much more valuable to give the audience the opportunity to translate what they see themselves, rather than creating such obvious work that there can only be one vision.
For example, the outer hexagon shape. As it may be seen as just a shape. There is a thought behind it. When you only observe the outer hexagon, ask yourself, what could it resemble? My goal was to create a shape that would resemble security, but also community, governance, and protection, a closed shape. The contrast (closed light on dark) of the white, is the same way a passe-partout works.
As far as the triangles go, together they can be seen as a cube. But all independent from each other, they could be seen as slices that stick together. Words like teamwork, connecting, community, collaboration, together come to mind. Seen as a whole, in singular triangular shapes, it kinda could say "piece of the pie". Focussing on the triangle that is out of place, could resemble movement, as well as merging/joining/choice.
When designs can be very simple, it could as well be just as powerful.
Anyone who knows a better catchphrase at the bottom that is in line with the above? Comment it down below.
