In 1982 I got my first BMX bicycle from a bicycle shop, and it was an Orange Raleigh Rampar. At different times in my life, I have looked for a complete bike.
During last night’s Super Bowl game one was listed on OfferUp in the same town I was watching the game.
I sent messages last night and I got a response this morning. The owner would be available at 1 pm and I was there at 1.
She received many offers above her asking, but I was the first on the list so she gave me the first opportunity.
The bike was sold new in town at an old bike shop that I lived next to for a few months around the time when the bike was first sold.
I have already polished the bars, seatpost and front wheel. I cleaned the tires and gave them a quality treatment. The stem and seatpost were ceased in the frame, and I was able to free up both with a little elbow grease and wd40.
Chain has a lot of rust but it has been cleaned and lubed.
Both hubs roll well, but I’m going to clean and grease both before hitting the road.
My neighbor has the largest bicycle and parts collection I have ever seen and he might have a a saddle and the seatpost clamp hardware.
This is the old bike shop building across from the community college. I purchased two bikes from the bike shop back in the day, and now it’s a retail space for the college.
I pushed the baby around the backyard on his new bike, and he loves it.
I did my usual 7.5 miles on the huffy, and I cleaned and did some adjustments after the ride with a barrel fire in the background.
Thank you and best wishes.
