Alfresco is a collection of information management software products for Microsoft Windows and Unix-like operating system which is developed using Java technology. Their main software offering, branded as the Digital Business Platform proprietary & licensed commercial open-source platforms, supporting open standards, and give the company scale.

Alfresco also provides the open source Community Edition a free, LGPLv3 open source software licenses. It has some default limitations in terms of scalability and availability, for example there is no built-in support for clustering. Quality assurance with Alfresco is limited and bug fixes are only issued for the current version.
