An interesting find to share with the group for #mushroommonday. I have no idea what this type of mushroom is. I noticed it this past weekend when we visited the quarry. I noticed it straightaway, lodged in a tree.
The texture and color of the fungi reminds of a rattle snake.
The bottom of the fungi almost looked like cardboard, or some type of porous material. Very alien, indeed!
I didn't dare sample it. If you think it's safe to eat, please advise below in the comments. I'm always up for a foraging adventure, and I know exactly where this one is.
