Researchers have identified in the dog's genome five genes responsible for its ability to "communicate" with humans.
The scientists, writes the journal Scientific Reports, came to this conclusion after conducting a series of tests in which 437 beagles ˗ placed in front of a closed bowl filled with croquettes ˗ had to ask for help from an unknown man in the room if they wanted to stuff themselves at will.
At the end of the experiment, the researchers selected the 95 dogs most likely to "address" the man in case of need and the 95 most "autonomous" beagles in their behavior
After analyzing samples of their DNA, biologists found that the representatives of the two groups differed in five gene sequences that were probably responsible for social communication, four genes that looked like human beings. According to the scientists, the friendship between the man and the dog is not only genetic, but also other factors, including the education of the animal from an early age.
