Everyone has a vision of what they want to become in life, or a particular goal they want to attain. To someone else, it might be to become a successful student, someone else might be to become a disciplined leader, others may be to become a skilled professional, an impactful individual, or even a great parent. But a lot of people forget a very important truth about life; the person you want to become cannot be achieved by keeping the same habits that have kept you were you are. If you want a different future, then you need to build a different habit.

I remember when I entered school newly many years ago, I had to define my goal. I knew that if I wanted to graduate with flying colours, then I need to build the habits that would make it possible for me. This was when I drew out my study timetable and personal schedule. I also started waking up early to read personally before going for lectures. I also made away from distractions. After the first semester of year 1, I noticed a very significant improvement in my academics. I continued with the good habit, and I even got better with time the more. I replaced my old habits with a better one and it became beneficial to my academics. When I graduated, I was happy with my result.
Your habits have the power to shape your life much more than occasional actions. What you repeatedly and constantly do on a daily basis will eventually shape your character, your lifestyle, and even your future. The small actions you do everyday may look insignificant at the start, but over time, they will produce very significant results that you may not even expect in that way. As against what some people may think, your future is not dependent on just one massive moment, but on the summation of the habits you do consistently.
If you want academic success for example, you will not continue with the habit of procrastination and distraction, rather you will build a habit of studying your books. If you want financial stability, you will not continue with the habit of spending carelessly without discipline, rather you will build the habit of managing your spending with budgeting. Someone who needs personal growth will need to build a habit of continous learning and self-improvement. Your goals will need to align with your habits in order to achieve the kind of result that you seek.
One of the major reasons why some people find it almost difficult to change their old habit is because it feels comfortable. You may not be aware of it, but the truth is that even a bad habit may begin to look normal to you when it is repeated over and again. This is why you need effort, discipline, and patience to change it. You cannot desire change and continue to live the way you have been living. If you want a different result, then you need a different routine and a different approach. As a matter of fact, your routine is what directly gives birth to your results.

It is worthy to note that your habit will either take you closer to your dreams or draw you away from them. Every habit has a definite direction. Productive habits will build your future gradually, while distructive habit will damage it over time. Be it in a positive way or in a negative way, what you have to understand is that your habits will shape you in ways you may not even expect. You can determine the kind of habits you want to build by being aware of the kind of life that you want to live. As a matter of fact, it is when you know where you are going to that will help you to understand the kind of habits that will take you there.
You have a choice of the actions to take, but what you do not have choice of is the effect and the consequences of your actions. Your actions, when they are repeated over and again, they will become part of you. More so, the actions will become your habit, which will influence the outcome of your life.
