Religion is a topic that is discussed by many, yet is not comprehended by everybody. Put simply, religion is the faith and the service of God to an individual. It does not concern only attending church and adhering to traditions. Religion is all about having an actual relationship with God and living by His will. I have already realized that religion is not merely a display on the outside. It has to be heartfelt.
The Bible defines well what constitutes the true religion. In Epistle of James 1: 27, the passage states, Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted of the world. This verse indicates that religiousness is not concerned with appearances. It is a love, kindness, and clean living in the presence of God. It is caring about other people and avoiding sin.
Religion is not supposed to drive an individual away but closer to God. According to Gospel of John 4:24, the bible states that God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. This implies that religion of truth has to be grounded on truth. It has to adhere to the teachings of the Bible, rather than the ideas and traditions of man. In my opinion, the religion founded on the truth leads to peace and understanding.
Moreover, religion ought to transform the life of an individual. In 2nd Epistle to the Corinthians 5:17, it says, If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. This implies that, real religion transforms an individual on the inside. It preaches meekness, longing, affection and submission to God.
Summing up, the religion is not only the name or group. It is heartfelt service to God as per the word. It is faith with action. In my case, I consider it as the real religion to love God, follow His commands, and manifest goodness to others in our daily lives.
