Bible interpretation is not simply the process of reading numerous chapters on a daily basis. It involves reading with a low heart and with a wish to follow God. In chapter 119 verses 105, the Bible teaches that Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
This implies that the Word of God is the guide to our life. Therefore, we should recognize the necessity of the guidance of God, which is necessary to comprehend it.
When reading the Bible, prayer plays a very significant role. I attempt to pray and request God to open my mind before I read. James 1:5, says, If any of you lack wisdom; ask God. The interpretation of the bible requires wisdom on the part of God.
Not only that of intelligence. It is of being instructed by the Spirit of God. In John 14: 26, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will teach us everything. Then we must rely on the Spirit and not simply on our ideas.
This is also because we need to read bible in context. We are not to choose a verse and assign our interpretation to it. 2 Peter 1:20 says, There is no interpretation of prophecy of the scripture of a personal nature. This is the lesson that the Bible interprets itself.
The nonclear thing is compared to other verses when it is not clear. It is the way we keep ourselves out of misinterpretation.
And, lastly, we are obliged to follow what we read.
In James 1: 22, it is written that the Bible says, Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only. I have also discovered that the more I follow the Word of God, the more I comprehend it. The most important thing is to learn by doing.
To conclude, we learn the bible by means of prayer, humility, guidance of the Holy Spirit, proper study, and obedience. Our ways of knowing God will assist us when we seek Him in a true way.
God bless his word
