I just saw a niche way of phishing while seeing one of the posts in my feed. And I think, I must spread the word so that it can save someone.
The post I am talking is this one : https://steemit.com/dmania/@saimegh/this-is-how-users-are-spamming-supporters-to-get-dmania-upvote-zg1hbmlh-qhr7o
If you go there then you can see this comment :
So the very first impression of anyone will be to verify, if that is true or not. Because you believe, you are following someone who should not be doing this.
And then you click that link : It takes you to a page, which actually will let you feel that the claim of copying the content was true.
And then there will be a prompt to log in. Hold on, before you do anything else.
The look and feel are exact same as steemit, however, if you see the url then it starts with :
https://steeemit.(dot)ml/steemit/@felixjasper/.......
I have purposefully deleted part of this url and edited, so that no one falls into trap by mistake by clicking here.
If you go back to our original post I mentioned and just point your mouse to the link posted in that comment, then you can see there is a little text that pops up on mouse pointer saying This link will take you away from steemit.com
But often people just click the link, without even pointing and reading.
